Goody Two Shoes

An 18th century story tells the tale of a poor orphan girl who only had one shoe. A rich man took pity on her and gave her a new pair of shoes. She was so happy, she kept telling everyone she had two shoes. People called her Goody Two Shoes.

Malcolm of MSAR was amazed at how well Kate's karting shoes had worn. There was still life in them, despite Kate imagining they were going to disintegrate at any moment. I guess Kate was expecting Malcolm to be a typical salesman and immediately persuade her to buy a new pair of shoes. But MSAR and Malcolm are not like that, and we could have left with the same shoes and put a bit more wear on them. Being in a shop surrounded by boxes of new karting shoes is a big temptation though and we succumbed to buying a backup pair to start using when Kate's current pair did finally disintegrate. Exactly the same brand and model of shoe, but a bit flashier with detailing and colour. I think Kate thinks they'll make her go faster, or at least psych out the opposition.

Well I'm no rich man, and whether Kate is goody or not is always up for debate, but she definitely has two shoes, and now two pairs of shoes.
