Kate Broadbent

2026 will be Kate Broadbent’s third year of karting. She’ll be racing for GMS Motorsport in the national RMC Ultimate Karting Championship (UKC), and in the international BNL championship.
Kate is in her first year at Staffordshire University, studying for a BA in Visitor Attraction and Resort Management. She’s hoping to set up her own motorsport facility, offering karting and off-road motorcycling.
Kate is a member of the university’s High Performance Academy, and has a scholarship to support her karting. The scholarship provides fitness, nutrition and psychological coaching.
Kate is a Graduate of the Buckmore Park Driver Development Programme, and did 12 months of work experience as a Sodi mechanic at Buckmore.
In her first year of karting, Kate came third in the Medway Valley Kart Club’s Senior Rotax Championship.
Kate’s second year of karting was a gap year between A Levels and university, and Kate used every opportunity in that year to race, competing in club championship races at Buckmore Park, Bayford Meadows, Lydd and Whilton Mill, and nationally in Super One.
Although relatively new to karting, Kate has been doing motocross, enduro and trials since she was 12, and she came third in the 6-hour ladies Dawn to Dusk enduro race in 2024.

Tara Herm

When Tara was just 6 years old, it was dodgems at Gambardos that got her hooked on karting. Her mum has some incriminating videos of her flying round the track one-handed whilst doing her hair.
Her racing idols are Lewis Hamilton, Abbi Pulling, and Jamie Chadwick. So it's fitting that one of her goals for 2025 is to compete in the Jamie Chadwick Series, racing in both the Junior and Light classes.
She passed her Sodi assessment in December 2024, and will also be competing in the 2025 InKart championship.
Her favourite colour is light blue. Once upon a time she did want to be a fairy astronaut (although she has moved on from that), and she has always wanted to be an inventor.

Tom Davies

Tom Davies is the newest member of BTK.
He started racing in November 2023, and he reckons it was the best decision he’s ever made!
He’s worked his way up through rental karting, and won his first championship at Buckmore Park in 2025 by just 4 points.
Tom is now working towards his ARKS test, with the goal of competing in Senior Rotax 177 in the 2026 season.
He runs a successful media company, called TD_Media, that provides sports videography and photography. And that means you might well see him on the track racing or trackside taking video and photos.

“I get appalled when I see good drivers being left on the sidelines because they haven't come up with the half million to a million to put themselves in a competitive car.”
