Good enough for Max. Good enough for Me.

I knew we were doing the right thing when I spotted the photos of Verstappen, Hamilton and Schumacher on the walls of the'moulding' room.
We were at Tillett's headquarters in Sittingbourne, getting a rib protector made for Kate - something that would perfectly fit the contours of her unique rib cage. Unique because some of her ribs are no longer the shape they should be.
I thought Bengio were the best for rib protectors, but having watched Archie Tillett wrap Kate in plastic film, tape, rubber foam, and fibre glass, and heard his explanation about what's needed for the ultimate protection (especially for women), Tillett as far as I'm concerned, is now the number one.
Getting a rib protector moulded to fit perfectly is not something you can find on Tillett's web site. There's all sorts there. From TK1s through T11s to P1s , there's all sorts on the web site. But no mention of a moulded rib protector. It's definitely a word of mouth thing. And David Griffiths, owner of Griffiths MotorSports (GMS), told us about it, so we made an appointment at Tillett's, and today we were there, in the 'moulding' room.

Archie Tillett (son of Tillet's founder, Steve Tillett) looked after Kate, and carefully produced a fibreglass mould. Once hardened fully, Archie will cut the mould into its final shape, and the rest of the Tillett team will turn it into a finished product (in time for Kate's next round of the Ultimate Karting Championship at Warden Law in two weeks time).
According to Kate, the whole process was fine. The worse bit was removing the tape and sticky plastic at the end. The main photograph of Lewis Hamilton on the wall, was of Hamilton grimacing as Steve Tillett ripped the sticky stuff off Hamilton at the end. Hamilton was grimacing and Steve was smiling. When Archie did it to Kate, Kate was grimacing and Archie was smiling!

Tillett will ship the rib protector to us in a few days. I can't wait to see how Kate gets on, not having to worry about her ribs when she launches the kart over the kerbs at Warden Law. And believe me, after a complete track refurbishment, there are now some seriously impressive kerbs at Warden Law!
