Nose Job

Some people swear that noses make the difference. And if you're honest, first impressions take a hit when a hooter's not quite right.

We picked up our second Tony Kart chassis (now labelled as chassis #2) when Kate bent the first one on the unforgiving walls of Traq kart track. It's a 2017 chassis, which is the one everyone wants because it's thicker metal, has chunkier brackets etc. But, it came with a traditional M6 nassau panel, and having an old fashioned nose like the M6 does make the kart stand out. It does, however, reputedly make the kart 0.5 seconds slower. And I did promise Kate that we’d upgrade the nose if she dropped below a 40s lap time at Buckmore. Well, in her last race she hit 40 flat, so I succumbed and paid the 200 or so pounds (by the time you’ve bought the graphics and the number and the shorter front bracket), and it’s now on the kart, ready to go.

We’ll see if the new nose job makes the difference at the next MVKC Summer Series race on Sunday 8 September.
